Lucid Chocolatier

Johnty Tatham makes Lucid on a family farm in coastal Wairarapa, New Zealand, controlling every step from bean to bar. We fought our trusted industry friend for days before finally tasting it, and it was the first chocolate in over a year to fully stop us in our tracks. What Tatham does with heirloom Peruvian cacao sourced from small farming groups, paying up to triple Fair Trade rates, is the work of someone with a genuinely rare palate: Port, Sauternes, mulberries; inclusions that belong in a wine cellar as much as a chocolate bar.
